I'm hard to reach by phone, the most likely result there would be wasted
toll charges. If you have Internet access, it'd be a lot quicker to
write to me as jeffk@bix.com.
Meanwhile, I've dug the beast out of the garage to take a fresh look.
There is no power cord, and I see it's an unusual configuration. The
screws that hold the outer cover on are missing, as are two of those
that hold the swing-out panels down. The antenna is intact (always a
plus), but the clear plastic ring around the base is cracked. There is
a puncture wound (1/8") in the speaker grill near the center, behind the
handle. I already mentioned the missing knobs. There are a few minor
scratches on the front panel, but the black wrinkle cover looks nice.
The chrome looks like it would polish up nicely, and the insides look
great. Altogether it looks pretty good, but there are defects. The
serial number starts R19C7- which I mention in case it tells you
anything about options or band split.
I was going to use it to monitor a channel in the 52 Mhz range. If you
are familiar with these things, perhaps you can tell me if that's a
realistic plan. Can you tell me what the crystal frequency formula is?
The crystal in it is marked 14.640 Mhz, but I don't know where that puts
the channel or if it's tuned up there.
Regards...
