Tried reinstalling lotta things on "screwed/Imaged" system ==
nothing helped.
Then did Install-Repair from WinXP SP2 install CD and voila, thing is now working Ok.

Still, cannot catch what is the difference, all drivers, devices, ..., same
... still, found some errors in setupapi.log 'bout usb*drivers*.sys paths
not found ...

Well, I would like to repair this without doing inplace install / repair ..
