I can guarantee you that's what happens on W2K as I've sat there = watching
it do the indexing, I've never seen it autopause itself just = because I
move the mouse or open a new window or anything, in fact I've = had to stop
the service to work on the machine because it was too = annoying.
It's possible it's related to PCAW because that's usually how I work on =
the web servers but I could swear I've had to do the same while sitting =
at the console.

Still seems strange. Hundreds of small text files is nothing. I =
often perform updates that change thousands or tens of thousands of =
files. There is no spike.

It doesn't work that way on a web server, when you open a website =
with
frontpage. When I edit my website I see hundreds of pages appear in =
the
queue to be reindexed because frontpage touches all the pages in a =
directory
when you view that directory.
