subject: Bizarre winter and all

 PL> Define "bizzarre"!

I live in Yellowknife. The average temp is Dec is -29 C but this year is
has ranged from +2 to -26 and it has only been that low for two mights
this month.

PL> Seems the climate is changing everywhere. We were warned about it
PL> decades ago that I remember, but it was all said to be a "hoax"...
PL> doesn't seem to be much of a hoax now.

The effects, as predicted, are being seen most dramatically and sooner
in the polar regions.

PL> Do you have any insight on the subject that you would care
 PL> to share?

Look at: http://www.weatherquestions.com/global_warming_Jones.jpg

We rely on winter ice roads to haul heavy freight into remote
communities and mines. We are afraid the trucking season will be too
short this winter to re-supply these places.

Robins were sighted north of Cambridge Bay on Victoria Island for the
first time in a thousand years this past decade. The Inuit had no name
for them.

Although I could personally enjoy mild winters, there is a terrible price
too pay. Another consequence of global warming is a large portion of the
world's grain producing areas becoming desert. Not a pleasant thought.

Cheers

Jim, in Yellowknife
