This is one of the more obscurely documented items in Word.  I found the 
documentation in my "quick results" book for Word 6.0 in chapter 1. There is 
a section titled "To Start Word from the command prompt".
Here are the command line switches:
        /n            Start Word with no documents open
        /mMacroname   Start Word and execute Macroname
        /a            Start Word without any templates or addins
