Naw, she was old enough and the times were progressive enough that germ
theory ¨was well advanced.  She just predated the right drugs to cure it.

She'd get a job as a cook and the family would get typhoid, and she'd
either ¨nurse them and move on, or move on right away. Once or twice is an
accident.  ¨15 or more times and she was pretty stupid to not get a clue
when she was ¨proven to test positive for 3 years running then got more
jobs as a cook with ¨the same results.

She was finally trapped down after working as a cook at a hospital that
second ¨time when they all got sick too and many died.

She knew.  At the end, she continued to deny it but the live evidence
before ¨her very own eyes, would have been impossible to ignore.  She just
didnt have ¨any options to make a living and didnt have resources to find
new ones.
