Wouldnt suprize me at all! I'd go the days they had that as well because I
¨kinda like a chance to free-try something new.
The way I shopped in Virginia Beach, was to also try out the 'nibbles' and
we'd ¨normally get one of the many offerings that we liked the best. The
Cheese Deli ¨at the Harris Teeter store normally won the 'item of the day'
for us.
It can be confusing though at times as the regioanl names for things vary.
I ¨love the true 'American Cheese' which is an offshoot of chedder but in
large ¨sections of the USA, that name just means a pre-processed amalgam of
different ¨cheeses. In my area, it's a real cheese, white unless coloring
is added. ¨Excellent for cooking and just eating as it is. If I had to
describe it to ¨those not able to get it, it's a mild cheddar with a
gouda-like flavor at the ¨background.
Way back when, it was just different enough from 'english cheddar' to get
it's ¨own name but as the name is very 'generic' it's been pre-empted now
to mean a ¨grunch of other cheesiod items 'made in the USA'. Believe me,
even USA folks ¨get confused on this one.
