Do you always allow 127.0.0.2 as well? (the rule should be for 127.0.0.0/255.0.0.0)

And while we are discussing IP addresses, why is it that I can't traceroute
to 0.0.0.1 or 1.0.0.1 or 2.0.0.1??? Are the first 3 class A blocks not in
use (they show as IANA reserved)? How the heck can they claim we are
running out of IP space when there are huge chunks like that not being
used? I always thought it would be cool to have an IP address like 0.0.0.7
.
