Of course I am usualy the last to get tyhe word but I heard last night that 
the New San Diego County Regional Comunications system is going to be a

Analog/Digital System. All Critical Ploice Sheriff calls would be digital

all routine not transmitted to the in car data terminal would be analog. This 
would include ALL Fire/Public Works/ School comunications etc. The Present 
Target date fro East Couinty is a phase in during 1998 and 1999. With the 
ata
terminals being on the far end. They are also talking a deal to bring SDG&E 
into the system to gain additional frequnecies and lower the overall cost. 
They are trying fro 95% coverage of the county 95% of the time. I personaly 
think that is unachieviable but Motorola says they can do it. But I am sure 
they made all kinds of Promises to the San Diego Police dept.  :-) 
 Overall the system like quite good with the capabilities of Communications
with All LEO's in the county. Even Highway Patrol IF they can get the State
off their behind.
