A lot of photo business is based upon good faith and trust. It simply is not
worth the time and effort to try to track the usage of all your images, if
you are selling regularly. You accept that most users are honest. Now if you
happen across your image in an unexpected place - a client passed it along
to another user without your permission - a letter pointing this out, along
with a substantial invoice usually gets results. The law is definitely
stacked to favor the copyright holder. With current law, the moment you have
shot the image, you have automatically copyrighted it.
