Okay, Meg, it was pretty clever of you to send that snow to California!
But guess what -- if you were sending it to Bob K., you missed --
it ended up in San Diego.
Yep, *San Diego* of all places had snow today. Plenty warm here in Berkeley,
though.
If you want to know the truth, I think Richard (mine) is behind all this. He
decided last week that spring had finally come and turned off the pilot light
on our heater. And guess what -- we had a cold snap come through the very
next day. We weren't as cold as you folks in the NE, but we too had a big
plunge in temperature from one day to the next. Now here it is a couple of
days later and it's toasty warm with record high temperatures.
Oh, yeah, obligatory on-topic content. I got a catalog from "Country Reins"
today (lord knows how they think I can afford *their* merchandise).
On page 21, they offer a pair of portable dryers for your paddock
boots. The idea is, you put them into your shoes right after you wear them
and they dry them out so you won't get mildew. But they say that you can use
them to pre-warm your boots before you head out on a long winter ride.
I saw this and thought: who's going to want to pre-warm their shoes at this
time of year? Then I read my incoming echomail. ;-)
Hope all is well and you have dug out by now! Stay warm!
