You can put whatever you want on the menu! And, you can choose what columns you would like to see (DocAuthor, DocPageCount, DocSubject etc). I have the Vim editor as the first action, which makes it the default. If I select a file and double-click or press Enter, the file opens in Vim. Run Search and right-click the main window, select 'Open Settings File'. It opens the ini file and you can edit the menu to whatever you want. A GUI to configure this would be nice, but I imagine that people who would appreciate Search could grapple with the ini file. Using the Windows Start menu, under All Programs, Accessories, right-click Wordpad and choose Properties. Copy the path under Target. Paste that into a blank line under the [Actions] section of the Search ini file and edit to look something like this: Wordpad=W,"C:\Program Files\Windows NT\Accessories\wordpad.exe" You could replace 'W' with 'sp' to press Space to run Wordpad. Also, quotes are not needed, so you could have: Wordpad=sp,C:\Program Files\Windows NT\Accessories\wordpad.exe > There's a 400-hit max, right? The ini file has the 400 value. Use Open Settings File, then change: MaxRecords=1000 The program only accepts from 50 to 32000 for this value. I have seen a search return around 8000 hits in a couple of seconds on a fast machine. > can I trust Notepad now for ~100k files? I believe so. Just for laughs, I opened a 12MB file in Notepad. Only 4 seconds on a fast computer. > Why did install need a reboot? The user needs VB6 runtimes, right? Sorry - no idea. There's very little in the program, and I didn't think the VB6 runtimes needed a reboot?? Let me know if you have any issues or questions.
