All I discovered so far about origins of fruits was that they evolved during the Cretaceous and have narrowed it down to four groups from that time. Rosacaea, the same group where roses evolved from, seems to be where apples and cherries got their kickstart. Ficus artocarpoides produced early figs and may be the earliest form of fruit although around that same time was Vitus stantonii which debatably was an actual grape and not just some early form of grape-ish plant. Palaeoaster inquirenda seems to be where the large seed pods type plants are derived from and am guessing that is where modern nuts come from, but possibly squashes, pumpkins, etc. Laurales are apparently avocado's ancector. Couldn't find anything about oranges other then origins of varieties related to agriculture so nothing about where they evolved from. Not really all that much but that is as far as I went with it. I am satisfied. Life is good, Maurice --- Msged/LNX 6.2.0* Origin: The Pointy Stick Society XIX - All about symmetry ... (1:261/38.9) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 261/38 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
