Mulling over LEE LOFASO to STEVE ASHER 11 Dec 2004 G'day Lee... >SA>They reject Jesus Christ as the one mediator between God and man, who >SA>gave himself as a ransom for all (as in 1 Timothy 2: 5 and 6), in favour >GP>So does the largest Christian sect (the RCC) -- they don't believe >GP>in a single mediator, because they believe Mary is "co-mediatrix with >GP>Christ"(per catechism) >LL>Catholics do not hold a belief in Mary as "co-mediatrix with >LL>Christ". Nor has the Pope, or any previous pope, made any teaching >LL>declaring Mary as "co-mediatrix". There certainly is nothing in >LL>the Catechism of the Catholic Church stating Mary as >LL>"co-mediatrix". And there is no papal encyclical stating Mary as >LL>"co-mediatrix". SA>It may not have been officially proclaimed as dogma, but it is a widely SA>held Catholic belief that Mary is "co-redemptrix", "mediatrix of all SA>graces", "Mediatrix Potentissima" and other (blasphemous) titles. LL> Some Catholics hold even weirder beliefs. But just because some LL> Catholics hold a certain belief does not mean that it is the LL> teaching of the Church. SA>(Source: "The Woman Shall Conquer", by Don Sharkey / Prow Books, SA>Franciscan Marytown Press - Libertyville IL. Nihil Obstat - John A SA>Schulien - Censor Librorum. Imprimatur - Moyses E Kiley - Archbishop SA>of Milwaukee - 1952) LL> If it ain't in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, or in a Papal LL> Encyclical, it ain't part of the Teaching or Magisterium of the LL> Church. Oh, well, the Catholics would do well to ditch all the "weasel words" that state or imply that Mary is co-redemptrix, that "the redemptive grace of Christ is conferred on nobody without the actual intercessory co-operation of Mary" etc etc. Try a search on (eg) "Jesus is also in Mary. All God's Graces have to pass through her" to find the weasel words. If it ain't in the Catechism or the Magisterium, or Encyclical, they sure spend a lot of time & effort weaseling to state or imply that it is.
