LAVONNE DAVIS-SCHENCK was thinking about Ritalin and keyed into
cyberspace:
LD> KA> I, by the way, am a serious case of ADHD and my mother permitted
LD> KA> neither junk food nor television in her household.
LD> Thank you for that statement. My son has ADD, my daughter is
LD> not. I can't say they've *never* had junk food, nor can I say
LD> they watch *no* television, but it seems pretty clear to me that
LD> if medication helps my son, and a check of the med box explains
LD> why he's off in la-la land, then diet and TV are not the cause
LD> of his behavior. If diet and TV definitely caused ADD/ADHD,
LD> shouldn't we see a lot more of it than we do?
Of course. If junk food and TV caused ADHD there would have been no
commentaries about it nearly a hundred years ago, while Jane was in
nursing school.
We see so much of it because the genetics of this country are permeated
with the genes of the pioneers.
The Few. The Proud. The Chosen.
