CS> This is Cindy S., sysop of AIE. Because of this incident we have gone
from
CS>an average of 15 calls a day to only 3! It is so depressing. We are going
to
CS>try and hang on for awhile longer, but if there aren't enough calls it
ets
CS>really hard to justify keeping the system running.
Hang in there--I know you're on the net. Do you have a web page up yet?
If so, put up an ad for your bbs. If you search on Fidonet on any of the
search engines, you can find examples of how others are promoting their
boards, and Fido in general. What with the AOL disaster, etc., we *need*
to keep Fido going as an alternative for folks who want go beyond the
Internet!
CS>both are avoiding the system because of this.
Maybe they'll come back eventually. I don't know (nor do I WANT to know)
what happened, but if THEY can put it behind them, everyone else
certainly should be able to do the same. Right?
CS>So as long as you are keeping Parrots up we will try to keep AIE
CS>running as well. We do have a nice Library of text files that
CS>everyone is encouraged to call and read (They are copywrited and I
CS>can not post them to the message areas.)
Parrots is staying up as long as there are messages going through here.
If necessary, I intend to let it sit vacant for 6 months before I "turn
out the lights, so even minimal traffic will keep it "alive". I've been
mentioning Parrots on the 'net where I can, and I plan to expand my web
page to include more detailed instructions on how 'net users can find
and access a bbs (and Parrots). If we get the word out, people will join
us, I'm sure!
