Got that one right. I think that the general population craves for
something bigger-and-better that the truth. Last month I did an
evening trip down to Tampa, around the time that the nasty weather
was in the area... lots of CBs and towering cumulus... and although
we had picked out way through the mess fairly unscathed, there WERE
a few humps and bumps. After we reached the terminal, I stood at the
door to assist in the 'good-byes', and a couple of young guys stopped
and said "how far did we ACTUALLY DROP this time... you know during
the BIG ONE?" I started to explain that although it may have 'felt'
like a horrendous drop, in actual fact, the altitude fluctuation on
the altimeter was barely perceptible, when one guy broke in with a
disgusting tone... "heck, we can't tell them THAT down at HOOTERS!"
Never a dull moment.
