-=> Quoting Pete Donahue to All <=-
PD> graduates now living in the San antonio area. I believe that Alan was
PD> quite corect in saying that the only way you can sell a product or a
PD> service is to use it and believe in it yourself before you can discuss
PD> it's strengths and weaknesses with others. Anyone who has been in
PD> businewss for himself or herself understands this very well or they
PD> wouldn't make it in most businesses. Thus the only we feel that is
PD> quallifieed to try to sell others in attending one of our training
PD> centers is someone who has gone through a center and has received the
PD> training and is in a position to discuss tthese programmes at the gut
PD> level;
Yes, this is of course the best way to sell something. However, if one has
been
observant, and watched people before they go and afterwords, and seen
ositive
changes, this is also something that can be sold.
PD> rough going whare membership recruitment is concerned. Mary and I
PD> along with other chapter members have worked tirelesly to bring new
PD> members in to our chapter but the mention of the nfb to many ofthem
PD> sends them running for cover. And this has been going on even before
PD> we moved here. But the situation is slowly starting to change. We
PD> have picked up a few new members during the last several years and we
PD> now have a good core group, but things could be much better. We expect
PD> to bring in some more members who objected to a Sunday Afternoon
PD> Chapter meeting. We will now meet on the third saturday of the month
PD> from 10 a.m to 12 p.m. No native San Antonian has attended any of our
PD> training centers but I am sure that that too will change.
Yes, membership is a problem for any organization. There are people
everywhere
who run away from the NFB. Basically, we have to get people one person at a
time. It is often best to befriend people first, so they see we aren't green
and have two heads, aren't violent radicals, or anything like that.
Good luck and have a good Holiday season.
