Kari,
A Georgia Basic EMT is almost an Intermediate in most states. Basics
in Georgia can do everything an EMT-I in SC can do except ET Tube
placement.
I am in South Georgia (about 200 miles south of Atlanta), and only
know general info about EMS in the Atlanta area. I understand that
Grady EMS (one of the busiest in the nation) has a high turn-over
rate due to call volume and stress. You might try there. Other
services in the area that I know of include
Dekalb County Dept of Public Safety (Police,Fire, and EMS)
(another one of the busiest services in the country)
Atlanta South EMS
In addition, There are other Private Services, and each of the counties
has an EMS service. I do not have addresses/phone numbers handy, but
Atlanta's area codes are:
404 (inside 285, the perimeter)
770 (outside 285)
hope this helps.
Also, the Georgia Department of Human Resources, EMS Division, is
the Certification agency for Georgia. Keith Wages is the director.
Have a good day and welcome to Georgia.
