I just completed setup of my Legacy Impact Subwoofer and am really
thrilled
with what it adds to Laser Disks for Home Theater!!! While the Focus
loudspeakers are extraordinary for music and require no sub, I wanted bigger
than life...inaccurate...deep base for movie viewing so that I could feel the
bass effects with the total volume much lower than at theater levels. With
the
adjustability of the Impact I was easily able to achieve that, yet keep a
rich
smoothness to the effect. I am really thrilled with the results. I get the
background rumble of the submarine and/or spaceship without the dialog having
to be at theater level.
I trie it with CDs (music only) and found it added very very little to the
sound of the Focus...and...had to be pulled further away from the walls to
keeps from booming the pictures off the walls. I blew a ceramic duck off an
overhead shelf with the Velvodyne I auditioned much to my wifes displeasure.
The Impact is self powered and stands the same width and depth at half the
height of the Focus and runs two ported 12s. It has the exact same style as
the Focus so it easily blends right in.
Like your experience showed you, they are a unique company that really
gives a damn about their customers, and truly love their work and products.
Cheers, John
