RB>You are saying "choices" but what you mean to say is that "you have no
>choice."
RB>In a society that is supposedly the most freedom that humans can ever

There is where you are dead wrong Ryan. And, this is most likely the
basis for your misconception of our economic system.
EVERYTHING you do involves a choice!!!
Just so you will know what I said, I'll repeat it...
EVERYTHING you do involves a choice!!!
From what little you've shared with us about your own life, I can see
several choices that you've made that directly affect your life.
* You have CHOSEN to use marijuana. Some of us believe that it is
detrimental to your well being. You don't. Nevertheless, it is
your choice to use it.
* You have CHOSEN to educate yourself in order to find a better job.
This speaks well for you. But will you CHOOSE to now use this
opportunity to actually do something for yourself? Your choice.
* You have CHOSEN to enter into a lease for living space so that your
freedom to travel is hampered. Now you blame the landlord for what
you freely CHOSE to do in the first place. Your choice.
* You have CHOSEN to fight the very system that is responsible for
your right to have a choice. God help us all if you are successful.
No question, at times we find ourselves in situations where our choices
are limited, like your apartment problem. But, these situations are
directly related to a time when we DID have a choice and made the wrong
one. Even now, you still have choices in that situation.
There are also times when we won't admit that we have choices because we
simply don't want to make the decision. If you WANTED to, you COULD
find a way to legally and legitimately leave your present situation. You
DO have a choice. It may require a personal sacrifice somewhere, but
THAT is your choice.
This free enterprise system of ours may not be perfect. I suppose as
long as humans are fallible, their concepts will also be flawed, but
don't ever claim that in this country, in this system, you don't have
choices. Don't ever believe that you don't have a say in your own
destiny. There are too many of us that have already lived our lives and
know from personal experiences that you do have choices and that the
choices you make are directly linked to all the future choices that you
may or may not have.
The question is not whether you have choices, the question is whether
you are willing to accept the responsibility for making decisions, and
further are you willing to accept the consequences once you make them,
especially the wrong ones.
EVERYTHING you do involves a choice!
