subject: stupid XP wireless question

From: "RobertB."

A guy I know just bought a used Compaq Armada rather cheaply on eBay
($300). It has XP Pro on it. He says it has a wireless card in it, but I
can't find it and it won't connect to a working wireless network.

I'm familiar with NT, but not XP. How do you figure out what's installed
(hardware) on the machine? Do you do it through the Add/Remove hardware
application? His Network connection (in the Control Panel) does NOT show a
wireless connection available. There is a wireless infraRed connection
available and I think that's what the seller meant when he said the machine
had "wireless" in it. To be honest, I think he does not have a
card and needs one that slips into the card slot on the side of the
machine. Just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed anything.
