And it's served you well, I imagine. OTOH, our radios are all
covered by factory warranties, and have 60 months' coverage
available for as low as $19.95. Whichever warranty is chosen,
its cost is part of the cost of the item. The only difference
is that, with the service plan, the cost of the warranty is
seperately listed.
The reality is that, at some point, the radio becomes the
customer's property, & the customer becomes responsible for
it. Even then, Radio Shack will still repair digital
multiband receivers for $39.00 (flat rate) plus parts, even if
Radio Shack didn't make or sell them.
I can earn a living practically *ANYWHERE*. I choose Radio
Shack because I am impressed with the company's abilities,
commitment to the communities it serves, and its commitment to
be more than a sales organization (through training,
educational benefits, etc.) I've had offers to make more
elsewhere. I stand behind Radio Shack. (What I don't do is
speak for Radio Shack. 8-)
