IF the relay is the problem,
there's a small burnishing tool made just for relay
contacts.
Your local parts store -should- carry them.
What I've done is use some contact cleaner on relays, first.
First and foremost, be SURE that the rig is UNPLUGGED from the wall. We
wouldn't want to see a crispied Ed Kriston ;-)
Spray a small amount into the relay contact area, taking extra caution not to
let the residue drip down on the electronics below, or surrounding. after
you've got a bit of cleaner on the contacts, take your burnishing tool and
dress up the contacts a bit. It won't take much, with the burnishing tool -
remember, those are plated contacts, mostly. Loose the plating, and you
might as well replace the relay.

Question: When you say it "stops recieving", does the meter simply go dead,
or is it still active, but no sounds from the speaker?
Have you tried to wiggle the bandswitch?
