KALERA ASHLEY was thinking about Re: Help! Ideas Needed. and keyed into
cyberspace:
KA>MP> ZS>BM> The patient bears a considerable level of responsibility
KA>MP> ZS>BM> for their own care. If anyone blindly accepts what a
KA>MP> ZS>BM> doctor says merely because they have MD after their names
KA>MP> ZS>BM> then they probably deserve the treatment they receive.
KA>MP> ZS>Do children deserve that kind of treatment if their parent
KA>MP> ZS>accepts what the doctor says...?
KA>MP> A child deserves the best treatment possible. Medication
KA>MP> certainly helps many children live better lives. Do you want to
KA>MP> deny them that?
KA>I think his point is that sometimes children suffer because their
KA>parents take the doctor's word as gold (adults suffer for the same
KA>reason) yet the doctor has made a diagnosis he/she wasn't qualified
KA>to make and prescribed a treatment that is ineffective or worse.
KA>That really does happen, and I think that because of our
KA>deteriorating health care system, there is evidence that it happens
KA>more and more frequently, as does its counterpart, FAILING to
KA>diagnose or treat people who need help. *******
IMNSHO, there are far more un-diagnosed ADHDers than improperly
