LK>Thanks for the info, Dave. A friend of mine who shoots 3-weapon
LK>events swears by the BRI-style slugs; much more accurate and seem to
LK>hold their energy better than standard slugs. He says that cleaning
LK>pins off the table at 50 yards is a piece of cake if you do your
LK>part. Also claims to group about 5-6" at 100 yards. I remember
LK>seeing a bunch being made at a local machine shop that makes high
LK>volume bullet and slug casting machines (Magma Engineering, Queen
LK>Creek, AZ) that were supposedly going to the LAPD for their SWAT
LK>teams to use. Pretty nifty stuff. :-)
I wouldn't get too wound up about those results Lyle. I can keep the
slugs on a paper plate consistently at 100 yards with just a bead on my
old smoothbore throwing Federal slugs. My father in law has a scope on
his smoothbore, and can easily keep the groups down below 5-6 inches at
100 yards. In fact, with that gun he had a bit of trouble at a hunting
qualification sesson last year because his hole was so small and tight.
They argued for a bit that he'd missed, when he'd been punching them in
the same hole at 35 yards. He throws Remington slugs.
