My clients, who for some peculiar reason think that, since they've written
me a paycheck or two, I'm their IT slave and owe them fealty 24/7, grumble,
grumble....
might be having a spot of trouble today with WinUpdate.  The autoupdaters
seem to be getting their installs, then doing nothing.  The semi-autos are
getting the "ready" globe, the download window, and then nothing.
 No downloads are installed.  All are getting weird globe popups (cum
balloon) in the midst of manual installs.  A couple had WGA failures.

ALL went away after a few hours.  I had some globe funnies myself this morning.

This further proves the axiom, "all good updates come to him who holds
his water for a day."

Did I ever tell you how much I hate activation?  Now I'm having my doubts
about heavily-loaded event-misdriven systems in general.  Gotta love a
scheme where you get your notification from A, then connection-less-ly get
your download from B and your "complete," from Z via Zimbabwe. 
Meanwhile C is authenticating you, and D is vetting your grandma's genome.

Lock, unlock, deadlock, race. Rinse, lather, repeat.
