Hello Kathy!
Thursday January 23 1997 08:45, KATHY JOHNSON posted a message to DEREK

KJ> The UK???? Hoorrayyy!!!! I've been trying to get Parrots carried in
KJ> the UK for YEARS! Please kiss your system operator for me!!!
The whole of the USA backbone is available over here, in fact, since
it became available, we have had to rename some of our own echos with
the _UK prefix. I myself moderate three UK echos:
OLD_IBM_UK which deals with any PC from 8086 to 80386
BIRDS_UK dealing with pet birds and wild birds
RAIL_UK dealing with any non political Railroad topic.
Although they are ALL on the UK backbone, there has been little or
no interest shown in any of them so far.
KJ> Oh, sorry, excuse me. Welcome to Parrots. I'm the slightly
KJ> over-exuberant moderator! You *are* our first UK visitor, in
KJ> case you hadn't guessed. Please, if you know any other bird owners
KJ> with computers, tell them about us!
I certainly will, but your echo IS published in our echo lists, so
it's there for people to connect to.
KJ> 9 budgies--are you a breeder, or did you keep adding to a collection?
Yes to both. :-)
We currently only have one pair that are keen to breed.
KJ> I've got 8 cockatiels, 4 of whom were given to me, 3 are offspring of
KJ> the first two, and one I actually bought. I also have 9 conures, 6
 KJ> jendays, 3 cherry-heads (red-masked).
Our current breeding pair are producing grandchildren for our original
pair who themselves have retired from breeding due to old age. :-)
Our first pair was a OPALINE light green hen and a LIGHT green
recessive pied cock. They produced several broods, quite a few
of their babies being SKY BLUE ! but mostly Light Green like the
father. Strangely enough, none had the mothers colors.
We kept the first blue one as a pet and named him Bluey, who is over
three years old himself.
Two broods later there was another Sky Blue, this time a hen, so we
kept her for breeding with a newly purchased OLIVE green cock.
They have themselves produced several broods, though there have been
no Blues amongst them, just mainly Olive greens and a very few
light greens.
Other birds include: One yellow-green pied hen (never wanted to breed)
One Light green cock, (never found a girl who likes him)
One Opaline light mauve hen (not any fertile eggs yet)
Bye For Now, and write again soon,
Derek
