digital sound channels built into it.  Later developments expanded this
number to 6, 8, and beyond, while keeping compatibility with the commands

I'd have to fire up the CD to check the track you mention.  Picture a sound
moving from your left speaker to your right.  That is panning, a term
derived from "pan", which is short for "panorama" or "panoramic".  In other
words, sounds that change their position within the stereo field.
