DB> I thought I'd better just make myself known, especially as I haven't

DB> I have 9 Budgerigars here, or as you say in the States, "Parakeets".
DB> So before I start chatting about them, can someone please tell me
DB> if Parakeets are a permitted topic in this echo.
BB> I currently have a Sun Conure but have been reading this echo off
BB> and on for a number of years now. Parakeets or budgies in some circles
BB> in this country. Yes they are permitted in this echo. I've
BB> seen conversations about doves in here. I think just about anything
BB> with wings is fair game. Many years ago when I was a young lad my
BB> parents used to have them all the time. When I got a bit older it was
BB> cockatiels. My oldest cockatiel just passed on a week ago after 17
BB> years of being amused by his antics. I really miss the little guy. The
BB> Sun Conure thankfully is really trying to fill the void.
I know quite a few people who have Cockatiels, but I've never kept them
myself. However, this is my third session of Budgie breeding over a period
of some 35 years plus numerous periods of keeping them as pets.
Our current session began when my friend was out cycling with my two
sons and they found a half starved stray female opaline light green
flying around, so they brought her home and we fed her until she was
fighting fit then we purchased a normal light green mate for her. This
all happened about 4 years ago, now, they have finished breeding though
they did have several successful broods, in fact one of their offsprings
herself is currently rearing the latest of her own several broods.
More next time,... do keep in touch,
Bye For Now,
Derek
