From: "Frank Haber" I have occasion to do this once a year or so. I find the DSDD 360K floppies by far the most long-lived of the common formats. They read even better on a wide-track 360K drive (still have a couple of those). And of the 1.44s, I find more survivors among my 1993 disks than among the ones from 2000, when the Chinese forgot how to make them. The jury's still out on recent ones. Insufficient sample on the odd stuff, like SSSD 8" (have to go to a friend's to read these). I recently watched as a kid transferred a tray of 150 360Ks from 1982-87. There were two sector read errors; the rest of the files were fine. --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 379/45 1 106/2000 633/267 |
