If the creators had any foresight, there wouldn't have been a phone number
field either.  Fixed position fields are stupid for data that doesn't need
to be present, and guessing the content of such a field with multiple
purposes is a PITA.  Time to fix your software (FD is still being
maintained, isn't it?) and use the only sensible method the nodelist
allows: /named/ fields, AKA flags.
