PM> Do you know of any reliable sources for valves?

Apart from the adverts in SI, I can only think of contacting
Rodney Champness, VK3UG, who does the vintage radio column.

I'm sure Leo Simpson would pass on an email or even a phone
message.

One other possibility is "Robbie" Robinson of Long Street, Queenstown,
SA, 08-8447-2790. His shop is full of all kinds of ex-dispoasl
stuff, but he is open only on Tuesdays, 7:30 to 4, and Saturdays
7:30 to 12.

I think Robbie must be into his eighties by now, and he runs the
shop virtually single-handed. He has been collecting stuff for at
least forty years to my knowledge, and must have invested
thousands of dollars into the shop.

But as a friend of mine said, when he karks it his family will
probably sell it all as scrap :-(

Apart from some oddball electrical and electronic items, I have
bought from him a glue-pot, all brass with the original price of
3 punds 15 shillings still written on it - he charged me $7.50,
the decimal equivalent - and a punch-card time clock ($5) that is
now my shed clock

PM> can't find any. I've sent several emails to EVATCO (advertised in
PM> Silicon Chip) but they have not replied.

That is so annoying when they do that. Why do they bother paying
for adverts if they won't answer the mail :-((((((

OTOH, if you don't mind the cost, try telephoning them. They'll
usually answer the phone when it rings
