Hi Martin:
MW> What was your first reaction to seeing this person strait (or
MW> was he)?
He was at first, then later decided that drugs was his problem, not
alcohol. I did see him years later wondering around the downtown area
and didn't look straight at all.
MW> I have said it many of times to both the people who
MW> had used here as well as the ones sent here from out of state
MW> to a halfway house, "don't be supprised one day when your
MW> best using buddies show up after a while".
That reminds me of early in my sobriety, when I got a call to meet my
traveling buddies from my drinking days in a coffee shop. I was nervous,
yet wanted to tell them I was sober. Turned out two of the three guys
were sober longer than I, and the third had a major personal shake up
(his brother committed suicide) and he was no longer drinking the way he
was.
The world turns in strange and wonderous ways.
Don
