It is symptomatic though of the fact that as each rev comes out
"better than ever" then it becomes harder & harder to find
the stuff which is the absolutely must buy new/improved stuff.
Meanwhile Linux etc is simply steadily catching up in part because it's
easier to find something which windows does better & then improve that.
Ditto at the apps layer where now it's IE trying to catch FF & Open
Office pulling into much of a muchness wrt office.
Maybe if they replace the mouse with a bluetooth hairnet which allows you
to control your machine by the power of thought....
BTW I reckon that the eventual divide wrt wondows & linux will be on
DRM etc. do you want it or not....out of the box windows will hook into all
sorts of drm protected stuff where linux won't but will if you spend 5
minutes downloading the relevant code from somewhere bizarre.
