BD> Aha! Another pragmatist on the loose..
A fellow I chat with daily has a theory that there is a connection between
spring time and women wanting to paint (walls, etc, not pictures). I would
dearly love to run with that subject since I have been checking out the paint
for the fence and the entrance way. I have to paint the fence very soon,
before the flowers start to bloom as one of the gardens is directly in front
of the fence and it will be difficult to do it if left too late. I also have
to paint the front entrance as soon as it is warm enough to open the door,
but before the bugs start multiplying. Yep, there is a connection :)

At one time I thought I would like to be a reporter, but I always end up with
a column instead. I think I like that better anyway, since I have more
freedom to put my own twist on things. Besides, this way, I don't get sent
to cover stories that are of no interest to me :)
BD> I gather you *DO* enjoy writing your column, Karen, and I'd be

I have only done guest columns for the Ottawa Citizen in recent years. That
is really great because I don't have a deadline to meet and any statement or
happening that caught my attention was fair game. My son did ask me a couple
of times to leave him out of it though :)
