I started to suspect that he wasn't anywhere near as knowledgeable as he
tries to make out, when somebody kept asking him how he'd managed to backup
a 2400SA ROM (something he'd claimed to have done), yet his replies were
extremely cryptic, and basically indicated to me that he wasn't being quite
as truthful as he should.

As he's a dealer in cheap imported Taiwanese modems, I also have a sneaking
suspicion that he views USR et al as real threats to his livelihood. Have
a look at this from the Netcomm echo...

Most of the probs I have had with o/s comms are because of the modem at the
other end. If it's a US Robotics V.34 modem at the other end, forget ever
being able to connect to it with a real modem.

It's not a NetComm problem either - I tried about ten different modems one
day, there was a file I /desperately/ needed on the other end.

Bloody buggy USR.

No objectivity whatsoever (nor much truth either, I suspect), just blatant
slagging of USR products. He wouldn't have dared posting that in
Aust_Modems! |-)
