Hello Robert! 23 Sep 04 18:37, you wrote to David Drummond: DD|>> The MAC address of your machine, or your router? I have multiple DD|>> machines behind my router. Every piece of of network capable hardware, has a mac address. Your cable/dsl ISP uses the mac address of your modem to grant you access to their network. On my wireless access point, I use mac addresses to grant access to specific devices. DD|>> There is no connection between my DNS service and Michael's MAC DD|>> address. Its tee-totally unfucking believable that you and Grant continue to display your ignorance on how DNS works.. Domain Name Servers merely resolve address names into IP addresses.. DNS servers are NOT proxy servers. My computer to my ISP's DNS server: [Thick New York Accent] yo DNS server, what is the IP address of hub2000.darktech.org? DNS server to my computer: [Hal2000 voice] Dave, please dave, oh ahemm its 24.102.43.148 Then off I go to 24.102.43.148 Its a friggin ROADMAP! No connection is being made via the computer running the DNS server. No extra bandwidth is consumed based on the DNS server used to resolve an IP address.
