Hi Jim,
well, I've been hooked up to this echo for some years now, and noticed the
average flow has been decreasing steadily. Lately you do most of the postings
really, the times of fierce discussions seem to be over. Last one I recall
was about "safety" with Dick, already some time ago. (I'm not counting "small
conversations" here).
OTOH, I've hooked up to the Internet only recently, and so far I haven't seen
a NG that even comes close to what's been up here.
OK, rec.aviation.military pours in daily at some 100/day, but quite frankly
I'm not really interested in a 50-thousand page discussion on Gravity or the
SR-71 statistics, or the yelling at a Russion participant that he's probably
a KGB-spy... Looks like most of the people in there are (ex) MIL people . So
if you're interested in lotsa bull about the ME262, go there and enjoy... I
disconnected after 8 days anyhow.
Some other NG's are simply dead: can.aviation.misc, eunet.aviation,
uk.rec.aviation, they have flow but it's not very much (and even then 10
percent of that flow consists of "Look here for HOT photo's of my
ex-collegegirls...") naahh, I'm still glad I got this Fidolink.
Sandy, just don't do it for the Feedback, that's a waste of time...
So far you haven't got any feedback from me on your postings, but ususally I
DO read them, occasionally I keep one but I'm not the kinda guy who reacts
with "Hey, great, gimme more...!" or something alike.
This probably is unavoidable... everyone is hooking up to the Net, spending
lotsa time surfin' around but after some time they discover there's something
missing too, that they were used to getting from the "old fashioned
Fido-bizness". I know several people that were hooked up to a very local
network. They all slowly disappeared when they got Internet stuff but all of
them are coming back to the local network, because they simply miss the same
stuff they don't get on the Net. The Net is OK, but next-to-Fido, not as a
replacement.
It's all up to you, Jim, I'm not gonna tie you up to a lump of concrete here
but I would be sorry if you decided to leave...
That's my 3 cents for today...
