*** Experimental loads of Hercules Blue Dot powder with
    Nosler's 135gr JHP:
No overpressure was found during this, but remember, this is in MY
gun, with ME loading, using MY equipment, and if any of these
variables are changed, I take no responsibility for the consequences.
Also, I had good reason to believe that the published maximum load for
this bullet was on the mild side, based on dozens of mathematical
regretions of various functions of existing data.
Ambient temperature of velocity tests: 35ø F
   12.5gr (twelve . five) Hercules Blue Dot 1364fps 557 ft/lbs
   12.7gr (twelve . seven) Hercules Blue Dot 1370fps 563 ft/lbs
   12.9gr (twelve . nine) Hercules Blue Dot 1417fps 602 ft/lbs
   13.1gr (thirteen . one) Hercules Blue Dot 1426fps 609 ft/lbs
Ambient temperature of velocity tests: 55ø F
   12.9gr (twelve . nine) Hercules Blue Dot 1448fps 629 ft/lbs
====================== END OF LOADING DATA ======================
One side effect of these hot loads with Blue Dot is a very big muzzle
blast, which leads me to hypothesize that the perceived loudness of the
muzzle blast is due more to the weight of the powder used in the load, than
the speed of it, length of the barrel or weight of the bullet. 13 grains
of powder turned into a gas roughly 1000 times the volume is going to
impact on the air more than 8 grains of powder.
I hope you can enjoy these loads as much as I do just be really careful,
especially about those temperatures, this stuff can be right on the edge of
the limits.
