-=> In a Subspace Msg From Roger Nelson to All <=- RN> Microwaving Water! RN> RN> A 26 year old man decided to have a cup of coffee. He took a cup of RN> water and put it in the microwave to heat it up (something that he had RN> done numerous times before). I am not sure how long he set the timer RN> for, but he wanted to bring the water to a boil. When the timer shut RN> the oven off, he removed the cup from the oven. As he looked into the RN> cup, he noted that the water was not boiling, but suddenly the water in RN> the cup 'blew up' into his face. The cup remained intact until he threw RN> it out of his hand, but all the water had flown out into his face due RN> to the buildup of energy. His whole face is blistered and he has 1st RN> and 2nd degree burns to his face which may leave scarring. Hi Roger, Thank You for posting this. I thought I was crazy.. I had done something similar. I had boiled the water in a pyrex cup. The cup had sat there a minute or so. I was making Jello of all things. After about a minute or so, I opened the micro, as soon as I did the whole cup blew up in my hand. I was lucky. I did not get burned, but nobody believes me that this can happen. I am always verrrry very careful, when doing it now. Looks to me like I should stop. but I am glad to know it does happen and not just to me... Mike ... If I were into denial, I'd never admit it. ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.20 --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: The Holodeck -www.holo.homeip.net -telnet//:holo.hom (1:261/1381) SEEN-BY: 3/0 633/267 640/954 712/0 313 550 620 848 @PATH: 261/1381 38 712/848 633/267 |
