Thanks for the history lesson. If Geoworks wasn't released
until 1990 then they were too late to the party to do
much dancing. I did find a one line referance to Geoworks in
the biography of Bill Gates that I've been reading, so they
didn't escape notice completely.
The Microsoft money machine is amazing. I just bought a
$450 partly used, partly new 486 for my son. I wasn't
planning on buying Windows for it, but was going to
use the Dr-Dos\Geoworks combo. Negotiations ensued with
the builder of the system (small town Vacuum cleaner store
and computer shop. I wound up getting a slightly larger
hard drive, an old sound card and Windows for Work Groups
along with the genuine Microsoft mouse.
Now that's marketing. Windows just comes bundled with
everything. I didn't  really make a buying decision but
Mr. Bill got me anyway.
