RM> I don't think I expressed myself clearly enough... I don't

SK>Oh, ok. I see what you're saying here now. I don't think I'm the
SK>"computer gal" for the school, though. Our school is pretty large. We
SK>have 14 math teachers alone. Over 100 faculty, and over 2000 students
SK>registered for school next year. No WAY I can be the computer gal for
SK>the school. (We actually have several persons who are perceived as
SK>computer "experts" in different departments of the school, and some
SK>classified staff who maintain different computers in different parts of
SK>the school.)
Sounds as if your school is close to the size of mine... In
mine, there are perhaps 3 teachers who really know computers
(I count myself as one). We are seldom sought after for
help, but only because there is a computer services center
with 2 secretaries and 2 tech support staff onsite. They
are support for the district (and, btw, that isn't NEARLY
enough folks to do this job). Prior to this, I was ALWAYS
being sought out to fix something or other; it got to the
point where the computer services director tried to get me
released from my other duties to help out (didn't work, of
course, because the principal saw no reason to release me
since it didn't do anything to help him with HIS problems).
SK>I know that Chuck Beams and some others have said that I'll be
SK>disturbed during teaching time with people asking me to fix
SK>things for them. I guess so, but I have a hard time imagining
SK>anyone doing that. Oh well, the first time it happens I guess
SK>I'm honor bound to report it here so that others can say "I
SK>told you so".
It's tough being honorable, isn't it!? ;-)
