GK>> do not really know what kind of fish...yes i used tap water but
GK>> i let it set open to the air in a bowl for 12 hours?????????
RM> who told you just to leave your water settle in open air
RM> for 12 hours.
i've always been told that you can leave your "city" water sitting open to
the air to allow the chlorine to evaporate if you do not have any kind of
dechlorinator... i've always done this in preferrence to putting =chemicals=
into the tank... stop and look at ourselves... darned near everything has
chemicals in it these days... and look at our health... cancer cases popping
up all the time, for example...
FWIW: we use distilled water from our own spring... yes, i use it in my
aquarium... it's all i can do to drink the coffee from most any restaurant
because of the nastyness of the water they use. it's not their fault... most
people do not know what good water tastes like because they are so used to
drinking that pollution that municipalities call "treated water"
RM> I suggest you buy a ph kit and set your ph to the needs
RM> specific to the type of fish you need and also buy a
RM> declorinator like STRESSCOAT and add it to your tank with
RM> every water change.
FWTIW: distilled water has a pH of 7.0 and you don't have to worry about all
the chemical garbage that is put in "for our protection"... i, too, use
stresscoat... like you say, to help the fish keep their protective coating
during times of stress...
RM> Without any knowledge of what kind of fish you have, other
RM> that they swim in water, you WILL NOT be able to get any
RM> help in this echo. Help us so we can help you. OK??
i agree with you on this >
please don't take this message the wrong way... yes, it is rather "harsh" in
voicing some of the opinions, thoughts, and ideas i have about things but
they are very valid and decisive concerns that we should ALL be aware of...
chlorine is a pesticide.
floride is a pesticide.
"city water" smells nasty and the above two chemicals WILL kill.
