Sooner or later you are going to be trusting Windows a lot less than Linux.
While you might not be able to secure Linux without years of experience,
you can sure as heck firewall it and trust it not to police your activities
or report your buying habits to marketoids.

It's going to come down to a choice, does your computer work for you or for
someone else.
