I was thinking about the leap from 'antimatter' to 'anticancer'.
That sounds completely ridicules.
Cancer *IS* Matter.
I you have antimatter you already have 'anticancer'. But I would not
recommend using antimatter to cure cancer. When antimatter comes into
contact with matter, things go *BOOM*.
BTW, as a fan of fundamental science I think the pursuit of knowledge
for knowledge sake is worthwhile. It can expand our understanding of the
universe. Knowledge = Good. Ignorance is not bliss.
And expanding knowledge is also a fundamental part of the mission of the
crew of the Starship Enterprise! :-)
Later on it can produce technology that can help the world as a side
effect.
It is the use (or misuse) of that technology (and/or which end of that
technology you are on) that determines if the effect is good or bad for
you. :-)
