MS> SB> As a fairly "ept" Radio Shack "clerk," I'll point out that
MS> SB> demonstrators & customer returns both get sold with a
MS> SB> double-length warranty, up to an additional year, to protect
MS> SB> the customer against any wear & tear that may have occured.
MS>
MS> Do you want to have to spend your time going back and forth to the
MS> store after any and every problem from such use?
MS> On some many-featured models, RS customers may not use that defective
MS> feature in its warranty period...or twice it, and then get a rude
rprise
As a retailer, Radio Shack offers items for sale. It doesn't
require anyone to make purchases. No one holds a gun to your
head and forces you to buy a demonstrator or customer return
item. I'm always willing to go & get a fresh, boxed product
for a customer, upon prepayment, since I don't want to be
saddled with excess inventory. I'm also willing, if the
customer is in a hurry, to find another store that has one and
send him or her to that store.
As far as product failures outside the warranty period, Radio
Shack already offers carry-in service plans of up to six
years' duration, as well as repair service for those who don't
want to spend anything extra up front. Our service plans even
cover items like rechargable batteries & other accessories,
not just the mechanicals of the product.
In short, the choice of whether to purchase the product and
what level of warranty protection to acquire is up to you.
As always, the statements above are my own, and are not
official statements of Tnady Corp./Radio Shack.
