That doesn't likely signify as much as you might think. I've been involved
in several othernets over the years, and in many cases the
"{at}fidonet" default domain wasn't changed to whatever the other
net was. In fact trying to do so would break things. It may be a matter
of convenience, or a matter of technical competence, or any number of
other reasons.

Probably not much, unless you happened to get lucky and hit a situation
where your netmail got routed to a gateway.
