OS2LAN Conference Rules:
------------------------
1) The OS2LAN conference deals with local area and wide area (LANs and WANs)
network systems that involve the use of IBM's OS/2 operating system (its
current version as well as predecessors). This includes the following:
- LAN/WAN systems that have file servers based on OS/2
- LAN/WAN systems that support OS/2 based requestors (including DOS VDMs and
WIN-OS2)
2) Allowed topics include those in 1) above, as well as hardware, software
related items specific to the same. Announcements of software and hardware
products are allowed if it is likely that such announcements will benefit the
readers of the OS2LAN conference as a whole and not only for the good of the
manufacturer or distributor of such products. Prices may be stated for the
purpose of getting an idea of which environment (single user, small business,
corporation, etc) the product is intended to be used in. Generic for-sale
messages are not permitted - if you want to sell something, use an appropriate
conference or netmail.
2) This conference is read by people all over the world. Many of these people
are professionals in their trade. Messages posted in this echo are expected
to be at a professional level. No idle chit-chat or off-topic messages are
allowed. No direct attacks on any individual or corporations are permitted.
Any product reviews that are posted are expected to be unbiased and should
reflect what the product does/does not do - not only what the reviewer thinks
of the product.
3) All of us do enjoy a brief respite from an endless series of 'technical'
messages, so humour is permitted on an 'occasional' basis. Note that such
messages are also expected to be on topic .
... and finally ...
4) Do not respond to messages that are off-topic. This just increases the
'noise level' in this conference. I will attempt to notify any violations of
conference rules by netmail to the user and/or to the sysop of the system
concerned. If it seems that I am not aware of repeated occurrences of OS2LAN
rule violations, please feel free to send me netmail at 1:153/8086.
