That has already been stated, it is on both sides of the fence.. But why do
they doubt the TR anyway that is my only question..

You seem to have more info on this then I do...  The information Thomas
Register puts out is a matter of public record, the only thing they do is
compile it in to a compact form for their subscribers... There is nothing
that I know of that says they do or have to contact the company in question.. 

As far as science fiction and fairy tales, I guess that is just another
matter of who or what one wants to listen to...  I would also like to add,
you say most of use.. Who is most of us.. I do not know nor speak for most,
but over the years I am sure Atari has made some mistakes, but most of the
sci-fi and fairy tales I have seen have really not come from Atari, but by
far the most comes from outside Atari..
